Swedish Match launches tailor-made Snus for Norwegian Consumers
Swedish Match is introducing new snus varieties 01 and 02 in Norway. These two new products are included in the ‘Lab Series’ and are specifically designed to meet the consumer desire for a modern snus that differs from other brands both in terms of taste, style and design.
01 and 02 will be sold in a snus pouch longer and narrower than the regular portion of snus – a completely new style that better fits under the lip making it less visible. To meet consumer needs, the product developers at Swedish Match have also developed a new snus recipe that creates less runoff than traditional snus.
More and more Norwegians are choosing snus
The Norwegian snus market has grown steadily in recent years. Since the smoking ban was introduced in the country in 2004, interest in smoke-free tobacco products has increased significantly. Figures from the Nielsen Market Institute show that over 26 million packets of snus were sold in Norway in 2008; an increase of nearly 25 percent over the previous year. The snus category has grown in particular, increasing by just over 34 percent. As the market has developed, the consumer demand for snus has also changed.

01 and 02 are presented in a simple and stylish box that is also produced according to a consumer demand for a more neutral design. The taste is well-rounded and balanced with a natural tobacco flavor and a hint of green herbs, oak, cedar and a little nuttiness.
